Afternoon Tea

It’s one of the most English of customs and a treat that can be enjoyed by the whole family. 

Whether you want to mark a special occasion, satisfy your hunger before dinner, or indulge in a treat after a morning walk, our traditional afternoon tea always hits the spot.

Our chefs carefully craft dainty sandwiches along with delicious strawberry jam, cakes and fancies, all served on our collection of Royal Albert “Old Country Roses” china. Ingredients are locally sourced and we only use tea from Rington’s – a local supplier that has specialised in tea for more than 100 years.

Tea is usually set in Gilroy’s Dining Room. Our garden, lounge, and sometimes our Garden Room may also be set for tea, depending on availability.

Afternoon tea is served from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Our afternoon teas are popular and advance booking is essential.

Morritt Afternoon Tea £14.95 (per person)

  • Rington’s Yorkshire tea with milk or lemon
  • A freshly baked scone served with strawberry jam and clotted cream or a toasted teacake served with homemade jam and butter, per person
  • Four finger sandwiches on white and/or brown bread with a choice of fillings including Neasham egg mayonnaise, sliced cucumber, Highland smoked salmon and Yorkshire ham
  • A selection of homemade cakes and fancies

Gold Afternoon Tea £18.95 (per person)

  • A glass of own-label house wine
  • Rington’s Yorkshire tea with milk or lemon
  • A freshly baked scone served with strawberry jam and clotted cream or a toasted teacake served with homemade jam and butter, per person
  • Four finger sandwiches on white and/or brown bread with a choice of fillings including Neasham egg mayonnaise, sliced cucumber, Highland smoked salmon and Yorkshire ham
  • A selection of homemade cakes and fancies

Platinum Afternoon Tea  £21.95 (per person)

  • A glass of sparking house wine
  • Rington’s Yorkshire tea with milk or lemon
  • A freshly baked scone served with strawberry jam and clotted cream or a toasted teacake served with homemade jam and butter per person
  • Four finger sandwiches on white and/or brown bread with a choice of fillings including Neasham egg mayonnaise, sliced cucumber, Highland smoked salmon and Yorkshire ham
  • A selection of homemade cakes and fancies
