Dickens Bistro
A new set of murals to celebrate Charles Dickens' links to the region has been painted at the Morrit Country House Hotel.
The work was commissioned by the hotel to celebrate the bicentenary of Dickens' birth on 7 February 2012. Local Teesdale artist Stuart Short completed the work at the historic hotel at Greta Bridge, near Barnard Castle, in three weeks.
The new murals complement the existing murals in the Dickens bar that were painted in the 1930's by Northumbrian Artis John Gilroy depicting a Dickensian scene of local life in the 17th century.
